From a consulting perspective, please stay away from Florida. Think hard before you get enticed by those catchy job advt. that talk about 'Sunny Florida', 'Lovely beaches' and 'Come for the weather, stay for the Job!!!'.
Here is some sincere advice from someone who has been there, done that: "Stay away".
Florida pays peanuts and employers expect to work you to death thereafter. For example an AS400 /RPg consultant with 18 yrs experience get paid in the 30s/hr or early to mid 40s/hr!!! And I am talking about fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies here. The going rate for other technologies are not much different either.
There may be exceptions here and there, but they dont skew the averages much.
In case you really miss the sights of Florida, work elsewhere and plan on spending vacations / weekends here, then go right back to where they treat you better than indentured plantation workers.
Florida is got a such beautiful climate. So unlike America in fact. I do not understand why No Proper IT Jobs, What is there in Up which is not there Down? Is it the shivering days? Typical Snowbirds working all day through out year.God Bless!!
FL Desi-Residents know whether there are jobs and high paid jobs..Otherwise there wouldnt have been any Desi in FL!!
